The information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industry of the Philippines is set to expand its footprint in Australia, as it brings a delegation of top industry players to CeBIT, Australia’s leading business conference and exhibition for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, which happens on May 5-7, 2014 at the Sydney Olympic Park.
For the sixth consecutive year, a Philippine delegation will take part in this event to stage an exhibition of the country’s comprehensive services and capabilities in areas such as IT consulting, software development, customer relationship management, back office support, creative processes, healthcare information management, knowledge process outsourcing, telecommunications, HR solutions, and offshore hosting services, among others.
Led by the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and supported by the Philippine government through the Department of Science and Technology-Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICT Office), this year’s delegation consists of 12 companies, namely, ADEC Group, EstanSAAS Development Inc., Exist Global, Global Process Manager Inc., Globe Telecom, KMC Solutions, Pointwest Technologies, Salmat Services Inc., SPi Global, StraightArrow Corporation, Sutherland Global Services, and TeleDevelopment Services Inc.
“We aim to further increase our presence in Australia, one of our growing markets, and CeBIT provides us a platform to present our strong value proposition to Australian firms that are looking into outsourcing or offshoring to increase their competitiveness,” says IBPAP president and CEO Jose Mari Mercado. “Our high level of compatibility with the Australian market makes us a good complement as an outsourcing partner,” adds Mercado.
The government, meanwhile, has expressed its continued support for the IT-BPM industry. “We remain committed to our partnership with the IT-BPM industry in pursuing initiatives that drive the development of this sector. This strong collaboration is one of the key factors that the industry is able to sustain its growth and maintain its global leadership position,” according to Undersecretary Louis Napoleon C. Casambre, Executive Director of the DOST-ICT Office, “which is why establishing our presence in key markets such as Australia remains part of our industry benchmarking programs.”
Just early this year, Metro Manila has edged out Mumbai, India to take the second spot in the Top 100 Outsourcing Destinations for 2014 released by the investment advisory firm Tholons, while six other Philippine cities also make it to the list, which is acknowledged as the de facto ranking for outsourcing cities worldwide.
